One The Road: The Bean

The night began with some old tunes that haven't been played in quit some time. The band clearly had fun jamming them out. They opened with one of the very first songs they ever started playing together, "Going Blind" It definitely set the tone for the rest of the 26 song jam packed set list that sent the crowd home happy. During the first set, the guys pulled out a very young and new song called "Flags of White" and although it is still in baby steps it is clearly becoming a fan favorite alike. The band mates played an extended first set to help get loose and settled for what became without fear of doubt one of the best concerts in the history of the legendary JR Bean Saloon.

NUMB is one word to describe what some of the NMB heads claimed they felt after the night closed. The band all played back and forth with each other to help create a stunning visual as well a unique funk sound. At one moment during "The Life" The band just broke out unexpectedly like a pimple into this fast jam with an insanely gut wrenching ending. At another moment during "Lover Inside" the band slowed the song to a stop allowing Matthew Rutler's Syth Guitar to play a few lines while Nate Mott held the vocals. As the crowd thought the song was finished the band started slowly bringing it back into the regular tempo and EVG and Hoyt joined back in. At the end of the song Nate dedicated it to two of the band's biggest fans and thanked them for their continued support.
Willow Medley which has made a musical journey back into the band's routine set list was taken to an entire new level. Matthew Rutler's guitaring created such a sensuous stage presents that the crowd literally bombarded him with high fives and chants after the song. The band came into the beginning of his solo very quietly, he began finger picking and mixing all his effects when all of a sudden he was at this level of craziness. He violently ran over to his drummer and they definitely had a wild moment where they were completely in line with each other. Hoyt was crashing his symbols as Matthew Rutler was shredding something not human. He then turned to Nate Mott and he too morphed into the wild. The band broke back down and Matthew Rutler has this effect that he mixes through his guitar and for a few moments makes him sound like he is a DJ scratching records. Then the band built it back up as Nate Mott ripped out these powerful and emotional vocals. INSANE!
Composed was more out of control then it usually is. During the song Matthew Rutler got onto the microphone and told the crowd how during the last set break he met someone in the venue and asked him if he could do another solo on stage for him. So Matthew Rutler told him he had a special trick just for him. He did something on his pedals and recorded a solo, played it back then went back to the microphone and told the fan that he could play with no hands. So he pushed some button on his pedal and raised his hands up into the air. As the recorded solo played out the crowd did the same and the super fan was greatly appreciative.
Before the night was over the band pulled out the newest song "Vast Expanses" The song has only been played three times and it has already become a sensation. The vocals and lyrics are addictive and the band has some powerful dynamic parts to back it up. The band left the stage for what they thought was an incredible night but they returned shortly after because of the "Encore chants" to close the house down with "Patience" What a night! Thank you to all who came out. Be sure to get over to Gillette Stadium next Friday because Matthew Rutler and Nate Mott will be doing an acoustic duo show. Seeing the pair live are very different than full band and are incredible to go and experience. Don't miss it. See you all next year at the next show!!!!!!
Cheers,

Happy Holidays!

On the Road: Dunkin Donuts Center

What a time to remember all around. Some close friends of the NMB wagon who were in the crowd said it was the best they have ever heard of the four thus far. The stage was huge! Nate and Matt were seen running aimlessly back and forth clearly having a blast. The bass was sounding right on the money and many noted how awesome the sound was. It was such an honor to be playing after State Radio and before the guys from the band "Boston". Aside from playing a stellar set the boys hung around for awhile before and after checking out their surroundings. The gang loaded equipment in and while Hoyt went to surf before stage time, the others caught a movie at Imax.

When they came back to the area the boys all agreed on joining a non-profit organization. The enterprise which shall be later officially announced, takes your guitar strings and drum sticks, makes them into jewelry and sells them to raise money for charity. Matt and Nate are especially enthusiastic about becoming a member because they are constantly breaking strings on and off stage.

What an fun and exciting experience................ that's pretty much all we can say.

See you all at The Bean in Bristol, Rhode Island. The shows calls to be a good one. That's a promise.

On the Road:Gillett Stadium

Superb show to say the least. First and for most the crew would like to thank Hoyt for being a real trooper and playing through both shows despite the sickness that still lingers. The crew would also like to thank the wonderful staff of Gillette Stadium for making the show such a success. The band ripped through a intense two hour packed set on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Some older songs have made their way back into the set such as "Introductions" and "Lover Inside". The guys played a nice extended version of "Redemption Road" with a killer jam at the end. Nate let everyone know that while he can play the harmonica and sing, he also plays a pretty mean slide guitar. Not to shabby. During Hoyts drum solo, Matthew Rutler left the stage and ran to almost to the top of the venue stairs because he wanted to hear how the sound was and take a picture for himself. Despite the long haul up and down the cement stairs he made it back with his band mates to finish the song and set.

The crowd loved every minute. Across the way at the restaurant called "CBS Scene" people sitting outside were clapping and cheering as they had lunch. We all are extremely excited to return to Gillette Stadium on November 30th to play for the Patriots VS Steelers game. Until then everyone take care.

Cheers,

On the Road: The Bean

The guys have a ton of history at the Bean and a ton more memories still to come. They proved that last night by being one of the first bands to play as the venue opened back up after months of renovations. The crew had gotten word earlier in the day that their drummer Hoyt would not be par taking in the show do to a fever. To everyone's surprise he showed up a little bit before stage time and played through the show. The crowd was much appreciated. Sick or not Hoyt still played a great drum solo during "Darling Divine" Everyone in radius seemed to agree.

About midway through the set, Matt, Hoyt and Evan jumped off stage and Nate played a few solo tunes. The guys came back on halfway through "Tied up Tight" and played a banging rendition of the jam. Great night all around. During Devil Woman Matthew Rutler jumped off stage, ripping his solo on the dance floor sending the crowd into a full on safe ambush, smothering the guitar player in appreciation. Great night.

We're off to Foxboro to play for the day. See you all there

On the Road:Pixie 103 Radio Interview

The band headed north this afternoon for a pre recorded interview that will be aired this Sun on Pixie 103. The interview lasted a solid 45 mins and features some great insight on how the band met. Matt and Nate reminisced that all 4 of the members met at the same place but on different nights. The complete and elaborate story could be told but you'll have to tune in this Sunday evening. The guys were asked and talked about all kinds of interesting stuff. Very funny, entertaining and inspirational interview for all. Tune in.

The band is off this weekend because they are hitting the studio to begin the recording of "Say it" Be sure to check out next weekend: Friday Oct 10th 2008 The Bean in Bristol, Rhode Island. Patriot Place, Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA.

Catch you all on the flip side,

On the Road: Live at the Hive!

The band put away their amps, and show equipment and picked up only a few acoustics while Hoyt drummed on buckets, pots, and pans. The band played to a very small and romantic setting entertaining only few great friends and supporters in a private atmosphere. EVG got to show off his brand spanking new acoustic bass and Hoyt showed us that he could drum on the streets of any city if you gave him some sticks and a bucket. Definitely a different but great show that the band and friends won't soon forget. Keep your eyes and ears open for some recordings in the future. Thank you to everyone who came. Most importantly, thank you to the Beehive Cafe and their wonderful staff for allowing this to go down. Who knows maybe it will happen again.

Until then......

On The Road: Cape Cod Seafood Festival

Nate and Matt played harder than it was raining by crushing two overloaded acoustic sets of "wicked good" music in Chatham Sat night. The crowd stuffed their face with over 1,000 pounds of seafood as the boys hit the stage. The food line then seemingly grew smaller and the crowd near the stage quadrupled in size! Fans are really showing that they enjoy the acoustic version of "say it" by screaming the chorus to help give some depth the the back up vocals. Everyone was stoked to hear some older songs such as "one summer breeze". Matt's delay effects rang nicely as they played a extra long version of the old song. During set break, Nate and Matt went outside and tried a game the locals call "Buckets". Two people stand on their own bucket. Once their hands clap together over their head, they rush to pick up a long rope on the ground and try to pull the opponent off their bucket without falling off their own (Basically tug of war on a bucket). The game is not as much about brute strength as it about balance and strategy. Needless to say Nate and Matt had an absolute blast playing this game in the pouring rain with the locals and went back on stage soaking wet to play a short and certainly sweet set. What a night. Nate and Matt offered their equipment and stage to some fellow musicians and someone even had a set of bongos. Eating Drinking and great music. Life doesn't really get much better than that! Thank you for everyone who braved the weather to come and check out the show.

Cheers,

On the road

Killer show last night at the legendary Water Street Cafe. The band members all agreed that the unique stage setup and nifty atmosphere helped set the tone for kicked up set list. The band played two one hour sets full filled with oldies and goodies. The guys played many extended versions of every song taking extra solos and trying out some new dynamics on the spot. Hoyt, EVG and Nate all tried out some of the in house equipment giving them a different ideas to try out. Clearly improvisation was in the air as they opened with a new song that has no name or lyrics but they made it seem as if they have been playing it for months.

Nate's string broke during "The Life" so Matt and the band cleverly made a song up on the spot while Nate crafted in some blues style lyrics. During this non-named and made up tune, Matt and Nate played a little "call and answer" between the guitar and harmonica. The audience received great music and the band shared stories of their experiences playing on the road for the last two years. Thanks to everyone who showed...

On the Road: Surprise Sruprise!

Nate and Matt stopped in at the legendary Newport Blues Cafe weds night doing a quick 45 min set for Matt Hartke. The boys stuck to two acoustic guitars opening with a great rendition of "Can't Rely On". Even though Hoyt was not present for a house crumbling drum solo on "Darling Divine" it didnt seem to matter because Nate was able to let his his vocals go for awhile to make up. EVG was a cheerleader weds night sidelined in the crowd watching his fellow bandmates play some older and rare tunes like "Demons". It was a pleasant surprise to say the least and the band and crew are looking foward to a slow weekend because of a little birdie who is getting married. We all would like to wish him the best. See you all Thurs night at the Water street Cafe

On the Road: Temple CD Release Party

Once again mother nature has put a hold on the Nate Mott Band Saturday double header. The Saturday day show at Atlantic Beach Club was put on hold do to weather conditions. We are currently working with Atlantic Beach Club for a rescheduled date. We may be able to squeeze one in this fall but if not the NMB wagon will show up in surely for a few dates in the summer of 2009. Stay tuned.

Because of the cancellation, NMB and crew were able to show up early to Temple in Providence and prep for what turned out to be an outstanding show. If you were able to find a spot in the venue than you most likely did not stop dancing and screaming for two auxiliary sets of sweet music. NMB pounded the audience with one of the best shows of their bright young careers. At the end of "Would you stop falling", Nate explained the tale behind the lyrics in the song. To paraphrase, Nate described how he wrote the song with as much energy as his band had just played with. He said it is about someone very important in his life, whom should always try and keep their head up no matter what life brings.

As the set continued the three front man joined together singing on a single microphone during "Say it" sending the crowd into a small frenzy. The house was closed out with a extended "Darling Divine" epic version where Hoyt solidified a great drum solo before EVG, Matt and Nate entered the stage. The energy in Temple was felt by both the band, fans and anyone who was in radius of the event. The band mates stayed for awhile after encore, signing cds and chatting with supporters thanking them for their cheers and companionship.

We are all looking forward to a quiet weekend coming up with only one lone private show. However, we shall see you all at the Water Street Cafe Sept. 25 followed by the Rhino Bar in Newport on Friday Sept 26th.

Until then be safe...

Cheers

On The Road

After the release of "Like We Meant It," NMB has been on the road playing show after show.
The band kicked off August with a show at the Bean in Bristol, Rhode Island. The Crew set up some extra big gig lights to help set the tone and the band took the stage as they embarked on one of the busiest months the crew has ever seen. Together the band debuted the newest song called "Say it". The crowd was in an uproar over the new tune which includes the entire band singing in together on the chorus as well as a nifty introduction built of a guitar synthesizer. EVG helped drive the song with a deep bass line and his enthusiastic backup vocals. Nate thanked the crowd for their support and expressed his gratitude for allowing them to try out a new song. The following show was at the Rhino Bar in Newport Rhode Island. The band all exchanged solos together on "Introductions" and during Willow Medley Nate proceeded to play a solo on Matt's guitar while he drove the strings. After the show the band and crew loaded up and headed to New Jersey driving through the night. After no sleep the band took the stage playing with a different but yet surreal vibe to set the mood. The backdrop of the stage was a really sweet lagoon where fans had set up shop all along the sides to see the show. They band clearly had fun mixing in a new song with an "oldy" for the first time playing "Laugh out loud" at the end of "Worth Of Words". During a version of "Lover Inside" Nate showed the crowd his vocal capabilities while Matt was playing a keyboard based Synthesizer on his guitar to help add some sound. "Don't take to much" was dusted and brought off the shelf as Nate ripped through a fantastic harmonica solo. The band and crew stayed the night hanging out before hitting the long road back to New England.

More recently on the night of a high energy gig at the Ice Chest, Nate told the crowd how incredibly hard him and his band mates have been working and thanked the fans for their continued support. Earlier in the night the band had played at the Mattapositt Music Festival and had a blast jamming out "Tied up Tight" for the first time live. During the song a few local children came up on stage with a tambourine and shakers to help back the band up. NMB concluded the festival and not even 30 mins had gone by before they took the stage at gig #2 of the night. The band was clearly warmed up from the first show and played 3 sets which had a nice mix of some new and old tunes. It is evident that "The Carousel", "Can't Rely On" and "Say it" have become some of the bands favorite songs to jam out on during live play.

The following week the band was geared up to debut at Gillette stadium until the left over wind and rains of Hurricane Gustav postponed the event until further notice. However, this did not stop the band and crew from trekking across two states in torrential down pours to take the stage at Pomfret High School. Since Gillette Stadium was cancelled, the crew was able to take a breather and show up extra early to prepare for a great show. During sound check, Nate played a solo acoustic to warm up with and students were silently watching from the upstairs balcony waiting with anticipation. The band took the stage without Nate and began jamming a song made up on the spot. Nate walked out and greeted the students by introducing his band and proceeding to improvise lyrics. NMB continued to fuel the night with over two hours of energetic tunes including a great extra long drum solo during "Darling Divine". Before the band jammed on "Can't Rely On" Nate told the crowd the story of how during the recording, his dog Salty began growling in the background and everyone decided to keep it on the track. Salty even got a shout out in the album credits! The band encored with a great version of "Devil Woman" and had a blast meeting the students and signing autographs after the show. Hoyt and EVG gave out set lists, picks, and drum sticks before hoping back on the road.

Not even 48 hours later the band made the hike to Mapeville, Rhode Island to play the highly anticipated Celebrity Shoot Out, hosted by Matt Lite of the New England Patriots. The crew loaded in while the band and Matt Lite greeted. The band thanked Matt for having them and in turn Matt explained how pumped he was to hear them play on stage. NMB opened with a great rendition of "Like We Mean It" and immediately the crowd was drawn by the band's sound. They continued to play a jam packed house rocking out songs such as "#31," "Walking Through Fire," "Yesterday's Blues," "Worth of Words," and "Grins" before breaking, so the tournament could begin. During the break the band took pictures with supporters and checked out some of the shooting. Later the band eagerly took the stage to close out the evening.

Celebrity Shoot out Encore Set:

Composed
Say It
Too Far Gone
The Carousel
If I had the Will
Would you stop falling
Patience

All and all the band and crew is having an absolute blast. They are looking forward to the double header coming up this Saturday at Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown ,Rhode Island and Temple in Providence, Rhode Island. The band will take the stage on a beautiful Newport beach and then quickly jump on the road to gig #2. Atlantic Beach Club is open to the public and tickets are still available for Temple. Get to one or even both of the shows. Some surprises are surely in store. You can email the band website and request tickets to Temple. See you all on the beach tomorrow!

Cheers,
